Cash position

Cash position

I admittedly dont know much about stocks or iron plays in general, but I do not quite a bit about finacial statments.

A cash postionis almost meaningless by itself.  A company could have 50k in cash and no liabilities, either actual or future and would be in better shape than a compnay with 2mm in cash and 3mm in overdue liabilities.  There is also possibly some recievables due. you just dont know from one little piece of the picture.

One has to see the whole piicture to get a sense of the position of the company. Insolvency and bankruptcy are quite different, and a company can be insolvent without going under, and a company can be effectively bankrupt, but keep operating for a long time before it ceases if there is sufficient cash flow.

And if they are any size of an organization you have to pick a point, and then consolidate everything.

I always tell people to make certain they read all the notes contained in an audited financial statement, or even an interim one, as they are often more telling than the actual numbers.  Agreements, and what they really mean and where they are at, generally are communicated quite well if the auditors are doing their job., though lately companies have been allowed to not report specific pending or actual lawsuits, and isnstead simply advise the auditors that hey will not impact the company materially. I dont like that.

To put it as nicely as possible, Gag....you will have to wait to see if your assumptions are valid.

BTW...are green and gold the colors of the Edmonton football team, or the south African rugby team?
