Why the drop?

Any idea why we dropped so much today? I couldn’t find anything.

My guess on drop - I think the market (non institutional investors) are spooked by the 1/4 point interest rate hike thinking that will eat into Alaris profits; which would be incorrect if true. ALSO this is not a market for value stocks or yield stocks - its a high flying US market and a bubble in bitcoin, marijuana and blockchain stocks. IMHO this dog will have its day, dont know when or where ...more

Management has said repeatedly on the calls that higher interest rates are good for business because it takes away some competition of cheap access to money for potential partners.  This company is misunderstood by most investors. Maybe coming in for the yield. In time will rise again once their cash flow increases and they increase divvy.  Till then the manipulators in charge can have ...more

Yes rising interest rates should help, not hurt, Alaris. I wonder as well if the drop is due to a lack of news on the new 15M investment that was announced in December. At the times, management had said this would close before year end, but no confirmation of that yet. Could there be a problem with the deal?

It might be related to the projected strength of the CDN dollar. Almost all the revenues of AD is in US dollar.

Just found out that Alaris Royalty was downgraded from outperform to market perform by Raymond James on Jan 12th and from outperform to neutral by CIBC on Jan 18th. CIBC still has a target of $24 on AD. This probably explains the selling of late. Consensus price is still $26.50.

Never know what retailers do.  But I would take either of the two - Outperform OR Market Perform ... . some kind of Perform will be enough :-)

I remember reading awhile back that some of the dividend aristocrat funds and etf's would have to sell AD because of them not increasing the dividend in 2017 so that could be a reason for recent weakness in the sp

I remember reading a while back some posters will start rumours to get the SP to dip so they can buy more cheaper.

I read the same thing about the divvy funds potentially dumping at the end of January. Which means that if Alaris does finally increase the divvy soon as they say they want to, there should be quite a flurry of buying. Hopefully with Q1 results in may. Long suffering investors will surely appreciate it.

The yield is already attractive; it's uncertainty about the payout coverage that has made analysts skittish (including me). I'd like to see another reduction to the payout ratio before, or in tandem with, any movement on the dividend. I think this would get the idea out that an 8% yield is no longer justified and share price should see some upwards pressure. .
