Aphria Inc. APHA

Aphria, which is headquartered in Ontario, produces and sells medicinal and recreational cannabis. The company operates through retail and wholesale channels in Canada and internationally. Aphria is a main distributor of medical cannabis to Germany and has operations in over 10 countries outside of Canada. However, it does not have exposure to the U.S. CBD or THC markets due to the constraints of federal prohibition. It has some U.S. exposure through the acquisition of SweetWater, a craft brewer

Risks

RisksI had been wondering about tornados and the risks that might pose for us. In the MD&A from page 10 to page 21 there is a section called Industry Trends and Risks. The reader will note that the first three pages explain at length the risks to the company of investing in the US. "Caveat emptum" is spelled out in spades.

Regarding Tornados or other extreme weather events that is covered off, it could be argued, by the section on page 13 regarding "Risks Inherent in an Agricultural Business" and on page 14 in "Reliance on a Single Facility". In the former it states " there can be no assurance that natural elements will not have a material adverse effect on any future production". To comfort any critics perhaps next time the words "such as a tornado" could be added after elements!
