These types of wisecracks come in all the time, new and existing, with nothing better to do with their time but test the patience of longs and interested suitors via fake news and supposed scare tactics, hoping the residents and newcomers cave to fear of appearing to be clueless or dumb to the investing community, driving people away, or holding up interests. It's a disrespectful game, a juvenile power-play, a form of bullying, and a mild form of extortion and theft, perhaps mild is an understatement. They usually do it over and over wherever they can get away with it, almost like a compulsion... the idiots get something out of it (besides a monetary compensation) apparently.
Anybody pulling this type of sh!t is acting uncivilized and hostile, potentially dangerous.
Best to drive them away without any doubt they are not welcome, or they'll just keep testing and harrassing.
