RE: Alberta Royalty Review

RE: Alberta Royalty ReviewGreat Post GS! Some sanity from the "muddy entrails" of the north!! I must also suggest that all "oilsands" are not created equal too. i.e.81% of the cuurently estimated recoverable reserves will be from SAGD not surface mining. The technology has only been proved in a few projects and 3 to 1 steam to oil ratios have been touted. Experience is showing this is low requiring more energy to produce the oil. if all the current projects went ahead as planned, nearly 2* the current Canadian gas production would be required... I dont think so Tim! Houston, we have a problem! Never mind the environmental issues, infrastructure deficits, single lane highway to Fort McMurray, skilled workers, etc etc. There are other options of course-nuclear power, coal, using bitumen, biofuels etc, etc.. But i rather think projects will be much restrained because of the above rather than just increased royalties. Mind you the current AB Govt has alot of room to manouvre on this issue..Stelmach will have to face the people next year, so i bet we will get increases but not as much as the panel suggests.. Anyway buy AEN, if you are worried. It looks real cheap right now and it isnt in Alberta!!!!!!!! Bigbadun'
