RE: 'Half a loaf is better than none"I think the consultants are trying to encourage the development of deeper more expensive regions of the North sea i.e West of Shetlands, deeper HPHT etc and really they are taliking about the larger oil (multinational/independants) who are paying the high rate of tax on the older producing fields and do not do any exploration!!

The central graben area (where AEN is located) is being drilled currently and some of the larger discoveries in the UK north sea over the last little while have been in very close proximity to AEN's acreage at Fyne, (i.e. Catcher/Blakeney). There are incentives for the smaller independents to still drill there.

These consultants are just trying to keep their big paying multinationals around and this is just some sort of political lobbying on their part.
