Makes me wonder if this isn't what they were aiming for. Think about it for a second. Seeing how Mali has no oil the odds of NATO giving them support were pretty much zero. Essentially they only help in civil wars that benefit themselves not the people *cough*. This would pave the way should ECOWAS not be able to restore territoritorial power for requesting more help either from the UN and or NATO.
