NEW PROVIDENCE, N.J. -- (Business Wire)

Axion International (OTCBB:AXIH), a leading producer of industrialbuilding products and railroad ties made from 100% recycled plastic, announced it has received three additional purchase orders fromAustralia in the past 30 days for a combined $130,000. The orders relateto Axion’s innovative Recycled Structural Composite (RSC) railroad ties, referred to as sleepers in Australia.

“These orders support the use of our innovative recycled plastictechnology in locations around the world,” stated Jim Kerstein, Axion’sChief Technology Officer. “By utilizing our patented material, designedfrom 100% recycled plastic, we will be diverting another 150,000 poundsof plastic that would normally end up in landfills for these threeorders alone. Not only do we help our clients reduce their carbonfoot-prints, we simultaneously give them the opportunity to invest in asuperior sleeper that is expected to last significantly longer than itswooden sleeper alternatives.”

Supplementing Axion’s first order to Australia in March, Axion’s threeadditional purchase orders bring the total number of orders to thecountry to four. The composite sleepers of various sizes are to be usedas a replacement for wooden sleepers in Western Australia.

Axion’s proprietary Recycled Structural Composite (RSC) material isinert and contains no toxic materials. It is impervious to insectinfestation, will never leach toxic chemicals nor warp. Because it islighter than traditional materials, transporting RSC is less expensiveand reduces energy costs. In addition, Axion’s products are completelyrecyclable at the end of their functional life.
