RE:KL’s future....KL will not sit around to ponder about BAR. Now that the Detour acquisition has been approved by 86%. KL would just approach BAR for somekind of a deal, including a complete TO. It's just too risky to let it sit there for another major to swoop in. Since, KL has $800M cash, it can buy BAR (current Mkt Cap:~$70M) at some reasonable premium anytime. Or it could buy a good chunk, say 25% of BAR. Together with ~10% from ES, they would control >1/3 of BAR to block others from coming in. They could also offer shares for the entire company to make it more attractive (some people would prefer KL shares)...and re-organize it as part of the WM holding. There are many options available, but BAR and WM, as they stand now, won't last long.
