The Market

All of the cleantech stocks have sold off because of the rising real interest rates on the 5- and 10-year treasuries. Investors assume the Fed will have to raise rates earlier than expected to tamp down inflation, which they believe will affect companies that have come to rely on the low cost of capital -- such as utlities. In essence, if borrowing costs go up, it becomes more expensive to finance and build out capital-intensive projects.

I believe UGE is in a very good position because they are in the lowest-cost renewable sector (solar) and are a "pure play," so they will qualify for pretty much every ESG fund. And there is no shortage of money vying for pure-play ESG stocks, which means that borrowing costs/tax credits will continue to ensure an affordable investing environment. I know that UGE's partner, for example, gets some pretty decent tax credits to fund UGE's "pure play" solar projects.

I wouldn't be surprised to see UGE apply for a TSX listing in the near future, either, with the good-sized capital raise just completed being one condition of uplisting. This would provide them with more exposure, and would qualify them for many more ESG funds that are not allowed to invest in venture companies.

As always very good insights BC dude. Any idea of the costs to move up to TSX?. You would think it's not as expensive because their on the venture already but I'm not sure. I agree, the time has come to move on up and I'm suspicious the ball is already rolling.

I agree. The ball might already be in motion, just like GRN recently surprised shareholders with an announcement to uplist. I'm not sure of all the stipulations, but I know from reading the PYR board that $10 million of funding is required, and over half of that has to be done via private placement. Which might explain in part the recent capital raise.

With all their US business , it almost seems logical to skip the TSX uplisting and apply to an American  Exchange . With Biden’s Green push , Our exposure would be Uge ;-)

Very true. May be the case because the CEO has stated he'd like to be on the nasdaq in a past interview....

The usual order of business is to uplist to the TSX big board first, and then it's much easier to create a dual listing on the Nasdaq.

Nice move today for UGE..but it still needs to get above that 2.75 and set up a solid support level there.
Comment by 1condor on Mar 02, 2021 11:23am
And back down the SP goes....that 2.75 is going to be a challenge. Patience required.

I really think it's more about the news at this point ... or lack of it. Once the next hammer falls, or the year-end financials with updates, this should move higher.

BCdude...You are likely right...and the volume on this stock is pathetic. I have noticed lately that a lot of small caps stocks have lost their mojo.
Comment by BCdude on Mar 02, 2021 6:26pm
I think part of that is the "quick fix" mentality. Investors moving their money from one stock that has paused into another stock that is flying high. I have a position in HP that I bought in January for $0.22 and it just hit $1.47 today. So some stocks are still in the groove. But yes, many others such as UGE, GRN and KNR have been treading water, awaiting the next news cycle. Overall, ...more

I dont own a lot of this stock...but like the company and am looking to add. The stock has been trending lower daily on low volume and figure the time to add is approaching quickly. Technically the stock should tip down to about 2.15...and that is where my bid is.
Comment by 1condor on Mar 03, 2021 12:27pm
Come on 2.15!
Comment by nbastar1986 on Mar 03, 2021 4:17pm
Lol down huge on like no volume this should bounce back quick
Comment by 1condor on Mar 03, 2021 4:49pm
nbastar1986...the froth has almost been wiped off the stock...technically 1.95-2.00 is possible in the very short term. I have been adding here at 2.15 today and 2.25 the other day. I still have a bid in at 2.00..which I see as solid support and stock should bounce nicely from that level. Hope all are taking advantage of this opportunity.

Yeah it's incredible... my position is so big as a percentage of my portfolio I try to hold off but at these levels it's very hard.... I don't suspect this dip will last long...at least the bought deal is done at 2.65...silver lining atleast their won't be any capital raises at these low levels.... We're bound to hear some news, financials soon so congrats to everyone getting ...more

2.00 today??
Comment by alleyesonme on Mar 04, 2021 12:04pm
This is crazy!!! Where's the floor?? My order just got filled for 2.05.
Comment by 1condor on Mar 04, 2021 12:08pm
alleyesonme...I am right behind you with a bid at 2.00. It seems all the money is over in the oil and gas sector. I suspect as long as oil and gas continue to perform that the green sector will flounder. I know this seems like an odd trade...but that seems to be whats happening.
Comment by alleyesonme on Mar 04, 2021 12:25pm
Thanks.. Hard to make sense of this drop with no material change. Good luck on your bid
Comment by 1condor on Mar 04, 2021 12:57pm
alleyesonme..got my bid at 2.00.
Comment by 1condor on Mar 03, 2021 4:39pm
You could just tell this stock was due for a dump. Not at all surprised my bid at 2.15 was hit today.
