re: Some issues with BBU guidance..........

re: Some issues with BBU guidance..........The BBU stock price has been selling off and this sell off started during the last quarter's conference call. An issue is that BBU is overstating their earnings/ebidta during their events presentations, especially during the last one (if interested one can listen to the events presentation from their website). The BBU event presentation guidance does not line up with their actual quarterly conference call results. It is taking substantially longer to realize the growth in earnings from the companies that they hold major positions in ie. Multiplex. BRK Ambiental, Teekay etc. The last quarter's earnings also included 2 month's of Westinghouse's earnings. Earnings have substantially increased from GrafTech since graphite electrode prices have increased from $2K to $9 to $10K/ton. Other than GrafTech, earnings from the other companies that BBU holds a major stake in are not substantially increasing. For example, BRK Ambiental has not been awarded a major concession to date (only one small one has been awarded). So, FFO actually decreased during the last two quarters. Some of the reduced FFO can be attributed to the sale of one of the energy companies and one of it's real estate companies. Keep in mind that BBU had a very small minority position in the energy company and the real estate company wasn't that large to start with. So, BBU has become to some extent a "show me" company. This can be seen with it's latest $13 billion dollar Johnson Controls' Power Solutions acquisition, where BBU holds a major stake. The BBU stock price did not move at all. Also, considering how much capital BBU is investing to buy this Johnson Controls business, it's likely that a BBU will need to issue stock to raise capital. I believe that BBU's stock price will now move when they actually show consistent increasing earnings/ffo/ebitda. This growth in earnings may take longer than BBU is currently guiding for. I'm not at all negative about BBU, personally I believe that BBU is considerably undervalued at this point and I have maintained a significant overweight position of BBU in my portfolio. GLTA
