Canada is not alone in it's stupidity. Many authoritarian countries have, throughout the centuries, screwed the pooch by anally trying to put their thumbs on every single transaction, so as to have control over every thing we do. They can't stand to have 2 people make a trade without having their 2 cents on how it has to be done, AND taking their own bite out of the deal. The publicly stated purpose of these security commissions and this whole debacle is an effort to prevent another Bre-ex. The consequences are; the flight of capital, the sludge of bureaucracy, little kingdoms run by pinheads, and mines that can only be financed if you have buckets of money and lawyers. The little guy is once again, screwed.
Even the US, that bastion of capitalism, is charging headlong into the darkness. They are giving up all of their liberty in their need for safety, which they can't have anyway.
