Trivest Wealth

This is a time to go after base hits rather than swinging for home runs: portfolio manager

Martin Pelletier, senior portfolio manager for Trivest Wealth at Wellington-Altus Private Counsel, joins BNN Bloomberg to discuss his investment strategy as the markets move into Q2 after a strong Q1. He notes that April has been mostly positive on the S&P500 and the TSX in the past two decades, but adds a note of caution over market cap concentration in the top 10 per cent of the largest stocks in the US. His top investment picks are Brookfield Infrastructure Corp. (BIPC TSX) in global infrastructure, and mid-cap stocks Tamarack Valley (TVE TSX) and Baytex Energy (BTE TSX) in the oil sector. He explains why he favours investing in structured notes at this time.
