Pulsewave® MAX is the next hardware iteration of Biosign’s Pulsewave® family of fully approved medical devices. With its unique patent-pending design, incorporating four separate sensor technologies: an upgraded Blood Pressure Cuff; a Blood Oxygen Sensor (PPG); a sensitive Thermometer and; a 2-lead Electrocardiograph (ECG), the Pulsewave® MAX measures four parameters simultaneously, and produces six additional measurements via our Cloud Diagnostics™ computer algorithms. Pulsewave® MAX is one of only three Canadian contestants in the $10 million Qualcomm Tricorder X-Prize.

Unlike our current Pulsewave® device, the MAX is battery powered and wireless - data is transmitted to an adjacent computer, tablet or smartphone, as well as being stored on the unit for backup and subsequent download. The MAX can be used in the emergency department, for patient triage, or in acute care settings to monitor critically ill patients.
The current practice of measuring medical parameters requires multiple measurements, with different equipment (not always calibrated against each other) over, in some cases, a long period of time (if equipment is in different locations a patient may have to travel to another room, floor or even building). Pulsewave® MAX provides a number of benefits to gathering ten important parameters simultaneously with one system:
* A dramatic amount of time is saved
* Data can be directly compared by measuring changes in the body over one discreet period of 60-90 seconds
* The system is non-invasive and comfortable to use
* Readings can be taken at stated intervals, to measure the effect of medication, for example
* Automated data gathering eliminates human errors
Pulsewave® MAX is well along the path to commercialization. Expanding on the proven architecture of our Pulsewave® Health Monitor, Biosign engineers designed and patent-protected our unique Sensor Clip. The power of the MAX has been demonstrated in the lab, and a number of prototypes are now in the field so that we can evaluate the user experience.
As part of Biosign's entry into the Qualcomm Tricorder X-Prize competition, Pulsewave® MAX will undergo thorough testing and upgrading between now and the summer of 2014. Biosign will be demonstrating the MAX in our debut as exhibitors in Dusseldorf Germany, at MEDCIA in November 2013.
