Biosign Debuts Featuring Futuristic Health Monitor
Canadian automated health information company introduces an innovative, patent-pending multi-sensor system able to measure up to 10 biological parameters in one reading
TORONTO, Ontario, Nov. 6, 2013 – Biosign Technologies Inc. (TSXV: BIO) will demonstrate its Pulsewave® MAX healthcare monitoring device when making its first appearance at MEDICA, the world’s largest annual medical trade fair, November 20-23 in Düsseldorf, Germany. Biosign has entered the Pulsewave MAX in the Qualcomm Tricorder X-Prize, a $10 million innovation contest to build a working device most resembling the all-seeing Tricorder® handheld monitor imagined in the television series Star Trek.
“We are coming to MEDICA because we believe users around the globe, thanks in part to Star Trek’s popularity, will quickly understand the remarkable benefits that our unique patient monitoring solutions bring to the healthcare world,” says Biosign CEO Robert Kaul. “In addition to the Pulsewave MAX we’ll also be introducing our integrated and feature-rich Healthanywhere™ software platform which is being engineered to deliver better health outcomes, more efficiently and at lower cost.”
The patent-pending Pulsewave MAX uses four channels of incoming data that simultaneously measure up to 10 biological parameters: heart rate, blood pressure, ECG, body temperature, oxygen saturation, breathing rate, heart rate variability, heart arrhythmia, pulse transit time, and mechanical pulse wave.
After taking a Pulsewave reading, users upload parameter data to the Cloud where Biosign secure servers employ proprietary computer algorithms to generate medically accurate results - a process termed Cloud Diagnostics™.
Like the Tricorder, Biosign’s Healthanywhere software can assess health risks via a proprietary “wellness module”, providing interactive questionnaires, vital sign monitoring, and a clinical portal whereby one practitioner can monitor up to several hundred patient accounts. In the next release, the system will offer integration with PencilThat, a popular practice management solution by partner ClinicServer that includes patient records and enables patients to schedule their care via the internet. The overall result will allow medical practices using Healthanywhere to deliver better care, with less work at lower cost while dramatically improving both outcomes and patient satisfaction.
“Biosign’s first-year goal at MEDICA 2013 is to build new distribution relationships for these flagship Pulsewave MAX and Healthanywhere products,” says CEO Kaul. “And we’re honoured to be exhibiting with the support of the Ontario government’s International Trade Branch as part of Canada’s contingent in Dusseldorf.”
