Rock Tech Lithium (TSXV:RCK) has revealed it has officially notched official approval and operation permits for its German lithium refinery.

The company stated in a news release it received approval from the state of Brandenburg’s Minister for Climate Action and Environment Axel Vogel and Minister for Economic Affairs Joerg Steinbach.

Thanks to the approval, this means the company can now build Europe’s first lithium converter with a capacity of 24,000 tons of lithium-hydroxide per year.

“The permits not only allow us to now move into the last stage of financing for the project, but they are also proof that our concept works and the Guben converter will serve as the blueprint for our other refinery projects worldwide,” Dirk Harbecke, CEO of Rock Tech Ltihium, said in a statement. “We expect to finalize subsidy negotiations and equity term sheets with strategic partners soon.”

Rock Tech Lithium stated it expects the credit approval process with its banking partners will follow shortly with the final investment decision being made in Q3 this year.

With its headquarters out of Toronto, Rock Tech is a cleantech company with operations in Canada and Germany on a mission to produce lithium hydroxide for electric vehicle batteries.

Shares of Rock Tech Lithium (TSXV:RCK) are up 9.92 per cent to C$1.44 as of 11:58 am ET.
