RE: one man's folliesI think you are right, Magus. JVs can be very good, especially when you have large and diverse property holdings as BML does, and are not able (or willing?)to do the large financings (i.e. the $2million plus ones) on a regular basis. It allows you to focus on your core holdings while still exploring all your property. Rimfire are a good example of a company with lots of properties and solid JVs with reputable companies such as Newmont, Northgate and Fronteer. Eagle Plains might be another comparable example. It is important, though, to attract the right partner. It could tough however if you get a reputation for thinking that you can do it ALL yourself.
