American oiland gas explorer and producer FX Energy reports that has found"excellent" gas shows in Lisewo, northern Poland. The gas was discoveredin sandstone deposits at a depth of 3,810 meters using a drillingprocess known as coring, the company wrote in a statement.
FX Energy is planning to test the finding to decide if it iscommercially exploitable. Further exploration work is scheduled to becarried out at Lisewo.
The company operates on the US and Polish markets. It owns 49 percentof the Lisewo well. Polish gas monopolist PGNiG, which is the operatorof Lisewo, owns the remaining portion.
Other drilling giants currently exploring for Polish deposits includeCanadian Lane Energy, Polish refiner Orlen and Energia Zachód, which is90 percent owned by British Aurelian Oil & Gas. American Chevron,Eur-Energy Resources, international ExxonMobile and Marathon Oil areamong other companies also exploring for shale gas.
Apart from Lisewo, the main Polish shale wells are located in Lebien, Siekierki and Markowola.
