Talisman makes Polish shale moveTalisman Energy has kicked off its shale gas exploration campaign off Poland as it spudded a well in the Baltic basin.The company, along with partner San Leon Energy, will take about 30 days to drill the Lewino 1G2 well on the Gdansk West concession.It is the first of three wells which operator Talisman and San Leon plan to spud in the Baltic basin while a second phase of drilling will see the drilling of a further three vertical wells.The pair is chasing unconventional shale gas reserves in the Lower Silurian, Ordovician and Upper Cambrian structures.The spud is yet another development in Poland’s fledgling shale gas industry. ConocoPhillips and 3Legs have already drilled two vertical wells and have completed the first horizontal well targeting Polish shale.
