Ford calls on Trudeau to boost infrastructure funding, remov

Ford laid out his list of demands in a letter to Trudeau that was published on Tuesday.

Published Mar 14, 2024 at 1:46pm

Ontario Premier Doug Ford is calling on the federal government to step up with additional funding for infrastructure projects that will support building much-needed new homes and spur development of the province’s lucrative Ring of Fire mineral deposit.

He also wants Ottawa to help speed up important transportation projects — including the controversial Highway 413 — and promising new energy developments by removing burdensome regulatory processes and confusing application rules.

Ford laid out his list of demands in a letter to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau that was published on Tuesday, where he also reiterated his call for the government to remove its carbon tax, or at the very least, halt a planned increase set to take effect on April 1.
