We got Farm Boy! Its beginning...

Danavation Technologies Confirms Farm Boy Inc. to Launch Pilot of Digital Smart Labels Danavation Technologies Corp. Logo (CNW Group/Danavation Technologies Corp.) NEWS PROVIDED BY Danavation Technologies Corp. Mar 31, 2021, 07:00 ET TORONTO , March 31, 2021 /CNW/ - Danavation Technologies Corp. (CSE: DVN) ("Danavation" or the "Company"), a Canadian-based Internet of Things (IoT) technology company and provider of micro e-paper displays, is pleased to announce that Farm Boy Inc. ("Farm Boy"), a fresh food retailer in Ontario and subsidiary of Sobeys Inc. ("Sobeys"), has confirmed a pilot launch of Danavation's Digital Smart LabelsTM technology. Sobeys is one of the largest food retailers in Canada, having operated for more than 100 years, and is wholly-owned by Empire Company Limited (TSX: EMP.A) ("Empire"). Empire is a food retailing and related real estate conglomerate with approximately $28.4 billion in annual sales and $15.0 billion in assets, who announced the acquisition of 51% of specialty grocery retailer, Longo's, on March 16, 2021. The pilot will be in Farm Boy's Ottawa - Barrhaven, Ontario location with installation to commence during the second quarter of 2021. Predicated on the success of this pilot, Farm Boy has indicated its intent to roll out Danavation's Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) solution to its entire portfolio of more than 30 locations across Ontario in 2022 and beyond. By implementing the Company's Digital Smart LabelsTM, Farm Boy will have the ability to update product and pricing information on-demand while standardizing store signage, avoiding costly mis-pricing errors and streamlining labour processes. Farm Boy offers a friendly, fresh produce and food product shopping experience, with an emphasis on farm-to-table wholesale. Including Farm Boy and Longo's, Empire's store network in Ontario, which is Canada's largest grocery market, will increase by 72 stores and 2.2 million square feet1. "We are thrilled to welcome Farm Boy to our client base while contributing to their evolving pricing and labeling strategy through the adoption of our PaaS, Digital Smart LabelsTM technology," said John Ricci, CEO of Danavation. "As a predominantly fresh food retailer, Farm Boy can modernize its stores while reducing time and labour costs associated with manual paper labeling, and ultimately realize efficiency optimizations that support the bottom line."

Absolutely the beginning, pilot on one Farmboy store, then potential for entire network of stores, then further potential with Longo's and then the Sobey's branded stores. I take it that Longo's and Sobey's do not currently use digitial smart labels. Is anyone aware of any stores in Canada that do?

I personally haven't seen any but I can definitely see Danavation signing on the entire suite of grocery stores under the Empire Company Ltd. umbrella as time goes on...very good news.

The Metro near me in Toronto does. They have the Pricer tags. They're only ok and I always see people walking around with the electronic gun to change the prices. Does not seem nearly as efficient as DVN.

Would be good to see a comparson of the 2 technologies. PRICER seems to have a few retailers under their wings and being Quebec based, you see the nationalistic trend. https://jrtechsolutions.ca/en/client-projects/ I believe they can update tags remotely.  What you saw could be NFC being used for updating as well. For the S sized labels PRICER notes HD Graphic Label - S  ...more

Market is giving a muted response though the volume suggests there is interest. Just the balance of buyers and sellers is in balance so the share price hangs.

I think(IMHO) we will see a move to the upside shortly after people have digested this news and the holders who got caught buying on that first crazy run up to  70 cents have moved on and sooner or later the Wolf's den will be satisfied with their payday (I hope)  The chart looks great and I'm sure the news releases will be plentiful going forward  GLTA
