The agreement was signed in Santander.                            Santander Governorate.

With an agreement of wills, signed by the Santander Government and the United Nations Organization, sustainable mining will be promoted in the department , which includes small miners from municipalities near the Santurbn pramo.

The intention of this agreement is to transform the activities of the illegal mining sector into legitimate practices that allow small and medium-sized miners in the region to continue practicing this practice without problems.

Mauricio Aguilar, Governor of Santander, announced that the pact includes four municipalities in the region where artisanal mining has been carried out for years.

"In four municipalities where ancestral mining is developed where we want to promote sustainable development, good practices, productive projects that allow formalization and generate employment . This is the first step in order to advance and be able to generate real income," added the president of the santandereanos.

Regarding the agreement, the mayor of Vetas, Hernn Bautista, assured that his historically mining municipality will benefit, since it will be possible to obtain resources to strengthen artisanal mining.

"For us as a mining territory, this support and commitment is essential. This alliance will allow us to articulate efforts and carry out projects in a way that guarantees us resources to strengthen mining activity and even formalize and provide accompaniment. It is a strong support for the population to mining, tourism and field projects, "added the Mayor of Vetas.

For their part, some environmentalists in the region rejected the signing of said agreement, assuring that it is not feasible for mining activity to be formalized or strengthened in the municipalities near the Santurbn paramo.

As usually, the so called "environmentalists" missused and infiltrated by those who want to grab later the gold there for their own criminal profits. Legal, transparent and clean mining is what the Colombian mafia does not want.
