–At a consultation table, the Office of the Attorney General of the Nation, with the accompaniment of the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development, reached the first agreement to delimit the Pramo de Santurbn. It was with the community of the municipality of Vetas, Santander, but there are still 40 municipalities to complete the process.
The Public Ministry and the Ombudsman's Office supervised, supported and accompanied the spaces for dialogue between the Vetas community, the ministries of Environment and Sustainable Development, Agriculture and Rural Development, of Mines and Energy, Alexander von Humboldt Institute, the Regional Autonomous Corporation for the Defense of the Bucaramanga Plateau - CDMB and the municipality's mayor's office.
The supervisory body highlighted the fact that a consultation has been reached as a result of the working groups and technical analysis from the physical, biotic and socioeconomic aspects.
“In these spaces, previous agreements and the consolidation of the information provided by the entities and the municipality were achieved, that will guarantee the conservation of the paramo ecosystem and the water resource, as well as restoration, environmental education and ancestral knowledge associated with the traditional way activity ”, highlighted the Delegate for Environmental and Agrarian Affairs, Olga Luca Patn Cure.
Among the commitments are 73% of the territory in the paramo area corresponding to 6,842 hectares of the 9,340 that comprise the municipal area.
With this agreement, the process of delimiting the paramo of Santurbn is advanced in concert with the communities, However, the meetings will continue in order to fully comply with the orders of Judgment T 361 of 2017 of the Constitutional Court that ordered the delimitation of the Pramo de Santurbn.
