To use just one example, epileptics aren't "cured" of epilepsy by consuming cannabis, but their seizures can be minimized in terms of frequency, duration and severity.
Cannabis consumption (specifically CBDs) has preventative health benefits as well.
But yes, there are also lots of "fakers" who just want to get high.
If CBDs can easily be extracted from cannabis and separated from THC, I can envision the possibility that CBDs will become accepted, legalized and even promoted by government, but THC will remain illegal and even be re-criminalized in placed where it has been legalized. THC is a purely psychotropic substance with no direct heath benefits of its own.
