What Is A Formational Geologic Structure? My best guess is that the term 'formational' might refer to an undifferentiated volcanic remnant that was never subjected to any hydrothermic sea water alteration. That would make it merely some solidified precursor to an above lying VMS deposit.
As such it would be virtually worthless, as a barren block of rock.
Perhaps it runs too deep, to be anything else?
Ask a geologist the right question and an expert can provide a better supposition.
But only drilling provides the most conclusive answer.
Certainly a large blob of molten material can solidify underground, when it gradually cools, as a solid blob of worthless rock!
And a geologic VMS remnant sitting above, may simply erode away, leaving little value, left to find.
Hudbay did feel the deposit was worth adding to its inventory.
Why did they feel that it was worth so much to them?
Maybe they didn't want Rockcliff to ever become a competitor?
It appears that they were successful!
Rockcliff will forever explore!
They will never mine!
All the best! Java
