RE:Dates aren't making sense

Scythian’s common shares are expected to begin trading ex-distribution on a split basis at the opening on April 12, 2018.

My understanding of this is that the seller (current owners) as of the 12th, have the right to receieve 3 shares for every 1 owned. Buyers on the 12th will not receive that benefit because the price will already be adjusted for the split.
