1. Treatments, if any are truly effective, will only help those seriously ill and will, hopefully , save lives and lessen the effects of the virus causing less damage to vital organs eg. lungs etc. What they will never do is decrease the incidence of the virus or the need for those affected to be isolated and so will not, in any effective way, decrease the need for testing, tracing and isolation.
2. the fastest vaccine ever brought to market , for Mumps, took 4 years. There has never been a vaccine developed for a Coronavirus despite several attempts although that is not to say that they will not be successful this time. The problem will be how many people will take the vaccine. A vaccine could potentially be given to billions of people and, given that side-effects may not show up for years, many will be reluctant to be guinea pigs for drugs or vaccines rushed through the usually long safety studies. I believe that both in the UK and the US surveys have suggested that significant numbers will not take any vaccine, alway assuming one can be developed.
And with that being said, if there's any truth to it, it kind of makes getting tested even a mute point..! If you're not going to take the vaccine why worry about getting the test?
