Question for informed board members

Health Canada had released that Sona is on the list for a nasal and saliva swab. I'd like to know from somebody that actually has evidence from the company that this kit has been evaluated for a saliva test kit. One poster had said you just changed the instruction manual and you can make it a saliva test kit. Being tied into the medical field I believe this is not correct and it has to be re-evaluated as a saliva test. I've put this through to a few of my colleagues in an email and waiting for reply

I don't think Sona has applied a saliva test to HC.  Not sure where you read that but it's false.

It's a nasal swab test.  They had the choice to go with saliva but they went with the nasal swab option because that's what scientific evidence supported at the time. Fact - they are currently working on a saliva test which will be submitted.  I don't know if the timing but the recent CTV footage covered it and you can actually see it in use if you look that clip up. ...more

In the meantime, the company is also working on a saliva at-home test, which is considered in the early stages of development. Full video: https://atlantic.ctvnews.ca/nova-scotia-company-waiting-on-health-canada-approval-for-rapid-antigen-test-for-covid-19-1.5123937

Sona 2.0 is in the works and they will be applying once the field tests are complete and they have proof of concept  DYODD

Once they get approval (and they will) then $2000.00/share is definitely a possibility. DYODD

Thanks for all the replies. I believe it might have been on CTV he was a little bit misleading. That's good to know that they are in the process of making a saliva test too. Wateroperator the Sona board must be honoured to have you on their side!
