Battery prices

The rumours about battery prices are starting to seep down into the retailers. I just got an unsolicited scoop that battery prices will be rising sharply in the next six months.

These days such dubious suggestion needs confirmation, but I can't rule out the poissibity with China-US relations looking to go from bad to worse. So betting against lithium prices spiking is looking quite risky.

Take your own precautions.

Perhaps you should pay more attention to the demand side of things. And read a little more carefully yourself. 'The desire both for vehicle electrification and energy storage in a cleaner power sector has not been diminished by the pandemic, according to Jacqui Murray, deputy director of Innovate UK’s Faraday Battery Challenge, a government fund to invest in the development of new battery ...more

This is bunk. Lithium prices have collapsed. Countries like Chile make it it very, very cheaply. Very difficult to compete. Lithium is not the place to be. Perhaps in 3 or 4 years, when the economy recovers some traction. But certainly not now. SPMT trying to spin themselves as a lithium player is laughable in my opinion. Gold, silver. Thats where they need to be. But, oh wait, the have not ...more
