Scientists in Australia have discovered that a specific extract from cannabis can kill skin cancer cells.

This anti-cancer effect can force melanoma cells into a “programmed cell death,” known as apoptosis, Knewz.com has learned.

Researchers from Charles Darwin University (CDU) and the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) in Australia made their discovery via an in-vitro study using a specific extract from Cannabis sativa on melanoma cells in a laboratory setting.

They published their findings in a paper titled “Evaluating the Mechanism of Cell Death in Melanoma Induced by the Cannabis Extract PHEC-66,” on January 31, in CellsJournal.
