From the information available, Blockstrain differentiates itself by providing the full supply chain with visibility to genetics, which ultimately protects intellectual property. In my opinion, though government tracking is valuable and carries inherent validity, the true value is with intellectual property... Like any other industry. Take software, billions of dollars are lost every year due to piracy. Blok/Greenstreams website states "Greenstream is ideally suited for recording and authenticating commercial transactions, inventory management, events, identity records and the traceability of goods among producers throughout the cannabis supply chain." Now that does meet regulatory compliance, but not protection of intellectual property. Blok has the big names of IBM Hyperledger and Oracle cloud, but appear to be in catch up mode relative to the Blockstrain suite. As a company, Blok funds potential disrupters in emerging industries and their Greenstream investment may have a place in the Cannabis space, but they do not seem to be at the level of depth of Blockstrain.
