Sorry, I wasn't trying to come off like a jerk.
When you buy a stock the settlement is 3 days. That means you don't own the stock for voting rights or dividends or spin-offs until settlement. The news release says " Plan of Arrangement will be defined as those holders of common shares as of the record date of January 15, 2015."
To be a shareholder of record on Jan 15, you would have had to have purchased the stock yesterday or before.
I could be wrong about all of this but at this point I'd say I was 95% certain. The stock is looking like it agrees with me too, people all of a sudden on the offer leads me to believe they don't care for the marijuana play, they just want the graphite co.
