For those of you downhearted as a result of recent events, Greg brought to my attention the IPO of Snowflake last week(US of course) What is Snowflake? A company focussed on managing corporate data. Don't ask me for more detail. I include a tidbit from the coverage:
The excitement shines a light on an obscure corner of the information-technology
ecosystem: software for managing corporate data. This database market already
generates $55bn a year in sales. It is expected to expand rapidly as data become if not
the new oil, then at least an important input for most companies. And it is changing in
intriguing ways—not all of them good news for Snowflake.
Greg has been watching for some big players in this area and voila!! I thought it was noteworthy that Warren Buffet participated. It may have been overbought on opening days but it does illustrate the interest in this area of technology. It appears much of the market does not understand nor appreciate what Carl is doing, but this may be a wakeup call.
