Barbenheimer made a lot of money for Cineplex but, I think it's already been priced into the stock. The SAG-AFRA situation continues to be a headwind. I'm still looking for Cinefile to pay CGX the US $1.25 billion they owe from the lawsuit. That should result in a major pop but, other than that, I think that Cineplex is still facing the same challenges they were 4 years ago, before the ...more

If Cineworld's plan receives creditor and court approvals, Cineplex says it will only be entitled to distributions from a general unsecured claims pool. This plan was approved, Cineplex will get next to nothing from Cineworld who had gone through bankruptcy protection and emerged.

Interesting claim but, I can find no evidence of it. The last news reports about this situation say that Cineplex won the US $1.25 billion judgment. Of course, Cineworld was struggling during the pandemic, were having trouble paying their bills, and were contemplating bankruptcy but, I've never heard that they actually did file for bankruptcy. Actually, it looks like Cineworld did file for bankruptcy, but only in the United States. And the judge said Cineplex is still free to pursue their claim through the Canadian courts. Yes, probably you and Caretired are correct. Probably not much hope of seeing anything from the court action now. The 2nd Mission Impossible film has been delayed now, to 2025 I understand, due to the SAG-AFRA strike. ...more
