You should qualify that statement... "there is truely a significant opposition to industry" to.. "there is truly a signifcant opposition to coal mining industry" on Vancouver Island.

Coal minings days were over 100 years ago.  People do not want to go back and do not want to jeopardize the hundreds of jobs *already here* in sustainable industries like shellfish and forestry.
