RE: Coalwatch Opposition on Van. Island...

RE: Coalwatch Opposition on Van. Island...

True chrisale, there is opposition on Vancouver Island, but there's opposition almost everywhere in Canada that a mine or project is proposed, whether it be coal, precious metals, oil/gas, wind turbines, run of river and nuclear electricity generation, etc.

I think that your point is well taken, and that is why Canada is one of the highest ranked countries in the world when it comes to responsible mining and safe, eco-friendly project regulations.

That is after all why there is such a long and detailed Environmental Assessment process which is still ongoing, and which CEC is preparing a Final AIR.  Hopefully it will be to the satisfactory of Vancouver Island residents and the Government Panels overseeing it.

Quinsam Coal has been mining near Raven on Vancouver Island for 15 years, and just recently received an extension.  Quinsam has been doing so responsibly as Compliance will no doubt do as well, IMO.  atb
