Good post bestguesstoo.  I agree with everything you said, except the following, "At least CEC has some other irons in the fire. Maybe one of the north island mineral properties will be feasible and become another company priority in the near future. Especially if the Raven project doesn't proceed."

 

The Raven coal mine is CEC's main project.  If they don't get an EA permit, then the other properties IMO won't give shareholders the same value as Raven could.  I'm not even sure that their other projects are that feasible judging by their last drilling campaign.

 

It boils down to Raven, IMO.  They have spent $millions to get this far, and more money is going to be spent prior to a decision by the Gov't.  If the science proves that the enviornmental impact will be minimal, then it would be irresponsible for any Gov't, Provincial or Federal to stop the Raven, IMO. 

 

The provincial survey says that Employment is BC's no. 1 concern, with the Environment taking 7th place.  Stopping Raven if it can be mined responsibly, would not be what the majority of BC residents are concerned about.  JMO
