E&N Railway link and Raven to submit EA in October

E&N Railway link and Raven to submit EA in October

Sorry... looks like something went wrong when I pasted in the link in the last message. Here is the link to the E&N evaluation again.

"
Anyway, why not lobby the government to build the new roads/highway, and to rebuild the railway too?"

There is already a strong lobby for the highway... it's been on peoples wish list for 20 years. Unfortunately, it's a very expensive proposition with very limited (according to the Ministry data) benefits and in these economic times the government is telling us to 'only ask for one thing'.

I've chosen to ask for the thing that is the most economical, the most environmentally sound, the most efficient, and the one with the most upside in the future, the rail.

As much as I am opposed to Raven, the traffic from the coal mine would effectively save and pay for the railroad which itself would have massive potential for environmental, social and economic benefits. So it is has been a difficult set of priorities and actions to justify.
______

In other news... just saw this come across the wire. According to the Project Manager at Compliance, they are hoping to officially submit their application by end of October. That would start the clock on the EA process and would mean it would be in the ministers hands 6 months later: May 2013. Right in time for the Election!
