Petitions are generally not for the public record, as you well know. However, you could contact the VI Water Watch Coalition for the total numbers of the most recent petition.
Now that the public is aware of provincial and federal government withdrawal of environmental standards to create a free enterprise market, FIPA, and policy of hiring Chinese miners, CEC greenwashing will be less effective.
You could google each of the groups in the list below for the total number of individuals represented. The association of physicians for the environment is likely to be in the thousands.
Contact the Valley Water Watch Coalition that organized a petition this last summer that in one designated area alone collected over 2000 signatures. Other groups have organized petitions such as the Port Alberni Coalition.
