Shame on Comox Valley Citizens

Shame on the Comox Valley Citizens, including scientists, teachers, politicians, sociologists, engineers, public servants, truck drivers, students, retirees, shellfish growers, farmers, biologists, hydrologists, and many others, for believing that our watersheds and our fabulous environment should be protected from coal mines and gas fracking.  There are over 64 groups officially listed as opposing the Raven mine, and you can bet they will come out in force if by the slimmest of chances this toxic project is approved.  Most likely all you 'investors' are climate change deniers and only think about the size of your portfolios.  Compliance has done absolutely nothing to ease the public's fears about this project and the past histories of the companies the executive and management have worked for include mine explosions, killing a river and dumping toxic waste into the ocean, and a charge for PCB contamination.  I also hear that the toxic coal tailings spill in Coalmont has roots in this company.  Not exactly a confidence builder.

Interesting to note.......but really no surprise.....that the long list of anti-development residents of the Comox Valley area provided by Coyote just happens to be largely people who have never worked a day doing actual physical work for pay in a resource sector. In fact.....and agailn no real surprise......most are employed by various levels of governments, who generally have got a very niffty ...more

and shame on you, The Shadow, to leave out the 600 or so shellfish aquaculture workers whose jobs will be lost when coal mine seeps further contaminate the Baynes Sound,(See the BC Shellfish Growers website for their strong opposition to the Raven Coal Mine), construction workers, highway repair folk, truck drivers, agriculturalists, retail store owners and The list of those opposed to supporting ...more

Yeah Mokita that is a truly a real shame! But keep in mind that those shellfish workers are going to lose their jobs with or without a coal mine since the PH levels of the ocean have already exceeded the tolerance limits of the shellfish resulting in ever thinning shells to the point that before long it will be totally non-economic for commercial growers to continue losing money every year. And ...more
