Who whodda thought eh?

The BC government just this week gave the FORMAL Environmental Approvals allowing the disposal of contaminated soils in a quarry within the Cowichan Lake watershed!

For the past 3 years now__just like what has been going on here__EVERYONE apparently was vehementally OPPOSED to this__on the basis that the operation would CONTAMINATE Cowichan Lake__irregardless of all the technical studies/data presented by the company showing NO Undue RISK of contaminaltion of Cowichan Lake.

All the locals were against it__the Local Authority was against it__the local MLA and other politicians were against it__and of course the HIGHLY VISIBLE in the MEDIA Local well organized Groups were against it!

BUT at the end of the day it STILL got the Green Light to go ahead!

You've indentified why Compliance has two failed Applications to show for the $20 million they've spent so far. So my question to you is, if in fact Compliance's techncial studies/data show NO UNDUE RISK  to the environment or our communities, then why haven't they included that information in the past two Applications? It's not the misinformation that's the issue with ...more

Coalgood, Coalgood, Coalgood. Failed on two applications. If only you understood the process. No project of this magnitude simply sends in one application and magically gets the ok. Maybe a hundred years ago that happened but not in todays world. The government usually throws out a bone or two for you coalwatch kinds of people... Am quite surprised that none on the local Coal Watchers didn't jump on my post__which contains a major error__it was Shawnigan Lake NOT Cowichan Lake where this contaminated soil disposal site was approved!
