I sold 10K shares 3 months ago. Congratulations to the longs.  Been a  goood company ever since it was Consumers Waterheater Income Fund.  I guess the writing was on the wall some day after Reliance got sold to CK.

How nice!  BNN guest Ross Healy says on July 30, "He does not see anything in it.  The valuation is so high that it would make wonderful currency for an acquisition.  It is on a steady and slow downward swing.  It has a falling balance sheet and low fair market value." Lol. Well, he was in the ballpark about an acquisition but instead of them doing the acquiring ...more

Does anybody know when this will happen? I am debating whether to sell now or wait it out if it isn't too long of a wait. A dollar today is better than a dollar tomorrow.

This is a good one to file away the next time I read about any stock recommendations from Healey.  There was another regular BNN investment advisor who included ECI in the portfolio of every new client.

I was in the same camp as Ross Healy.  As a value investor, Enercare did not register very high in my screenings.  I owned the stock a couple of times and made very good returns, buying cheap and selling when the valuations got stretched. Congratulations to the long term shareholders. I suspect Brookfield is buying for the synergies and not because of the valuation. That's the ...more

Always great for all holders but now have to find something else to replace it with.

I'm waiting for now to collect the handsome dividend while waiting, and also gives me time to find a replacement that will give me a 5% dividend.

And, there could be another bid.  Wait it out and see what happens.  Ross Healy on Market Call BNN yesterday.  Eating his words today............. EnerCare Inc(ECI-T)  July 30, 2018     He does not see anything in it.  The valuation is so high that it would make wonderful currency for an acquisition.  It is ...more

I'd be great to see another buyer step up with a higher offer, but I'm not holding my breath. Who do you think it would be... a PE firm like the one that took out an ECI competitior a while back? Anyway, I am happy taking the current offer... not sure if I will opt for shares in BIP though.

Hey Opey How she go?  I sold all of my 4550 shares this morning at $28,85. i've held since May, 2015 so major cap gains and great dividends.  This is the 4th take-over that I've experienced and have sold immediately in all 4 cases. I always figure it's best to take the sure bet. I saw someone asked about what to buy - I spent most of the $130K ECI dough and spread it over ...more

Ross Healy obviously didn't know what he was talking about. Another talking head.

Can someone please explain how the "exhange units " work?? Am i correct to assume that my 1 share of ECI (TSX) would convert to 0.55 share of BIP (NYSE) if I do not sell my shares?

Guys likeRoss Healy are dangerous.  After listening to him I was serioulsy thinking of selling my Enercare as I have held it for several years so was up considerably.  It had been a shigh as $22/share and was around $18 at the time he made the comment.  Fortunately I didn't sell adn was amazed when I heard it was now worth $29.  Imagine how ticked off i would have been if I ...more
