Christmas Meadows Prospect

There are some interesting comments in the press release from Basic Earth regarding Christmas Meadows: AP Double Eagle Xmas Well Progressing Tuesday October 3, 8:44 am ET: "Plans are to drill a 17 1/2 inch hole to 6,000 or 7,000 feet where partners expect to set the first string of intermediate casing." "Once through this Precambrian overthrust section, hopefully at about 3,500 feet, the Paleozoic rocks below should drill faster." Comments: The “Hogsback Thrust” sheet lies beneath the Uinta Mountain “North Flank Thrust” sheet that contains the Precambrian overthrust section. It is interesting to note that Basic Earth is projecting the North Flank Thrust at approximately 3500 feet. In other words, Double Eagle should be drilling out of the Precambrian arkose sediments and into younger rocks at any time. Because the overlying Precambrian arkose interval was not hard and dense (cemented with silica) and difficult to drill as originally projected, I suspect a velocity pull-down has skewed the seismic data and the structure below the North Flank Thrust is now a prospective structural trap located up-dip from significant oil and gas shows encountered in the Hogsback thrust plate.
