It did so becaue gold was money. Dollars could be redeemed for gold. Dollar was a gold proxy. Not anymore. Dollars move on there own. Gold is not widley used as money anymore and won't do well in a deflation.
I'm not here because of deflation. The amount of global money supply being created and the trillions more that will be created will not lead to a deflationary outcome. It will not lead to a hyperinflationary one as well.
Take note that even though $ gold is off it's high, in terms of $ gold's real price, it's over $1000k. No one is really considering the exchange traded aspect of the POG
