Legalization In AB

This is an interesting article from Edmonton Sun regarding the timeline for recreational legalization. There are direct quotes from the Justice Minister so the info is legit.

Having cannabis products recreationally legal by this time next year is no surprise to me or anyone else who is up to speed on the process. It seems like the public was expecting sales to commence this spring/summer which was always a fantasy. The liberals are vowing to get the bill into the House of Commons by the end of spring, which is only the start. Luckily, they have a majority in the house and in the senate which means the bill should get through pretty quick (probably a total of 3-4 months on the federal lvl). I’m speculating now but that would mean the provinces will take another 6-8 months to get recreational cannabis products on to the market.
I realize that Emblem does not intend to market their products to the recreational market but there is no question that this process will impact share price… just look what happened when Bill Blair made a couple comments a few weeks back.
When it comes to the recreational legalization timeline and Emblem’s market performance, I think the longer we wait, the more Emblem will thrive. It is extremely easy to get a prescription and anyone who wants to get legal cannabis now can get it. Your prescription is just a Skype interview away. Furthermore, when it is recreationally legal, those who already use Emblem’s service will continue to do so because their online purchase process will be no different than ordering online at a recreational outlet and the prices may actually be better by going the medical route. Right now Emblem’s price point is right in line with the black market.
I just hope the market and shareholders will realize that there is a few degrees of separation between Emblem and the other LPs out there. Unfortunately, they are all getting painted with the same brush right now.

You are deluding yourself if you think anything a politician says is 'legit'.

In this context, "legit" means that the info is coming from someone who has direct influence over the process, not some outsider.  But I do agree with you, "trustworthy poiticians" are as common as "ugly vitorias secret models". And don't get me started on the NDP administration here in AB... there aren't enough hours in this week for me to convey all ...more
