Anyone following this stock actually tried the set top box

and does it have as many glitches as has been posted on the Rogers board? Not a lot of interest in the stock anymore as we continue our downward trend. So far management gets a failing grade in keeping us share holders in the loop....

I think the ones most affected are those who do a lot of recording on their PVRs. I do a bit and was surprised by some of the design decisions. For instance if you recorded a specific program every day, you used to be presented with a list of each episode giving you extensive particulars on the recording: e.g. date recorded, time of day, running time, channel etc etc. Now all you have is aseries ...more

Yeah the only thing keeping me here is the $1.40 a share we have in cash but that could evaporate quickly with a poor acquisition. Since the Rogers storyline and slow rollout with the other big player overseas I am beginning to have my doubts, sure hope I'm wrong as I have a large position, my bad though as I have been averaging down for 4 months now and it hasn't been working out.....

I went to the Rogers store yesterday. Impressive 4K display.  The box built by Cisco functions well and is way quicker/smoother/smaller than older Netbox. Rep said they are having hard time keeping up with demand and selling well since launced in Jan.  Rogers are doing a lot of 4K advertising on TV.  I bet people will want this for Olympics

Great thanks for your reply Voile

voile - Thanks for your feedback. It appears that once again, the market has overreacted to negative rumours that are likely untrue. GLTA
Comment by luberon on Mar 04, 2016 1:58pm
Retiredcf Which rumours are those?  As I seem to be the only one here who has reported actual experience using Espial's Navigatr, on behalf of this board I'd be pleased to put the detailed negative rumours that you can list to the test. BTW, let us not confuse what is seen in a showroom with real life. I am not saying that Rogers would do that but it is too easy to set up demos ...more

Another victim of selling at the wrong time and fearing the sp running away from them...
Comment by luberon on Mar 06, 2016 11:14am
A reasonable thought but does attacking an offer to help with possibly important due diligence information really help one's investment decisions?  As most know, attacking the messenger is often the first sign of a weak logical argument. After all, one might suggest that the pros like retail investors to avoid critical thinking and stick to what amateurs do best - mindless ...more
Comment by sr71loki on Mar 06, 2016 8:25pm
Luberon, there's a big difference between stating an observation and shooting the messenger.  Just as there is a big difference between critical thinking and desperate self-serving attempts at sentiment manipulation.
Comment by luberon on Mar 06, 2016 9:06pm
I agree wholeheartedly with that - but what's the relevance to this discussion?  Unless ... you actually believe that the overall sentiment expressed on this board is capable of influencing ESP's share price one way or another.  Unfortunately I must respectfully disagree.
Comment by sr71loki on Mar 07, 2016 7:37am
Luberon, you must have missed the words "desperate" and "attempts".  I was quite clear in what I meant.  You assume much by assuming my beliefs.  The relevance of my original statement is self-explanatory.
Comment by luberon on Mar 07, 2016 8:14am
Yes, yes ... I expect folks are getting tired of this so, whatever you say. Anyone who feels that my postings about their investment are unhelpful can put me on ignore.
Comment by barneyj44 on Mar 07, 2016 8:25am
Luberon If you can make the stock go up, well that's good enough for me
Comment by luberon on Mar 07, 2016 8:48am
I have no illusions about my ability to move the share price either way Barney but hope that I can help some think more critically about their investments. As you may recall, unchecked cheerleading led us off a cliff last October. :(
Comment by sr71loki on Mar 07, 2016 10:06am
If anyone is on this board hoping to learn how to think more critically about their investments by reading this board, they should not be investing on their own.  Luberon, you say that sentiment on this board has no play on share price, yet you state "As you may recall, unchecked cheerleading led us off a cliff last October".   Credibility is earned, not granted or bullied into ...more
Comment by luberon on Mar 07, 2016 10:30am
Yes, I did say that.   Some may notice that it was in a completely separate paragraph and could reasonably conclude that I was talking about the ESP investment community as a whole and wasn't necessarily limiting my comment to describe the members of this board.
Comment by luberon on Mar 07, 2016 10:50am
You may disagree but I believe that one should never give up on trying to learn. Incidentally, as someone who feels that they belong here, what questions are raised in your mind by the stats in my posting on house positions since Oct 29? Please share.
Comment by sr71loki on Mar 07, 2016 12:36pm
Luberon, why do you insist on continuing this conversation with your psychological projections, false assumptions and unimportant questions? Engaging with you is a waste of time.  Good luck with your trading and your flip-flop school of informing the uninformed.
Comment by luberon on Mar 08, 2016 8:45am
Well sr71loki several posts ago I tried to hand you the 'victory' to simply shut it down and spare others but I guess you just couldn't win without trying another shot.  And now you have retreated while saying deeply hurtful things to me yet without meeting the challenge of coming up with at least one question from the House position stats that I posted. Who knows, perhaps ...more
Comment by sr71loki on Mar 08, 2016 10:04am
Luberon, why do you insist...  A) There is nothing special about you posting House positions after I called you out. B) This board is not about people answering questions that you post.  C) Being offended is a choice
Comment by barneyj44 on Mar 07, 2016 10:46am
I was just kidding Luberon, those of us that think we have the power to move the share price are illusional, we might get a bump from one so the self proclaimed experts on Bnn but it doesn't last, earnings and contracts will move the share price, nothing else....
