RE: Volume goes up since SPLIT!GLN is a great stock, but the yield has not doubled because of the split. You have divided the dividend by two now that the split has been completed. Also, the volume has doubled because there is twice the number of shares on the open market.
There is no free game on the stock market. A split doesn't change anything in a company's fortune. There are just more shares to divide sales, earnings, dividends, etc. If you had 100 shares before the split, you now have 200. If the dividend was $1, it's now 50 cents.
That's the way it works.
