53 years of experience support the contributions of the Mexican Petroleum Institute (IMP) for the refining industry, currently working on the New Refinery project in Dos Bocas, Tabasco, through the development of engineering, creation of technology, as well as highly specialized, certified and recognized resources in the middle.

It should be noted that the IMP has contributed to the design and reconfiguration of the six refineries: Cadereyta, Ciudad Madero, Minatitln, Salina Cruz, Tula and Salamanca.

To mention some of its technological capabilities are: Conceptual and basic engineering, where it already defines the refining scheme based on the needs of Petrleos Mexicanos (Pemex), as well as the development of basic engineering for the design of the technologies of the industrial plants, such as atmospheric and vacuum distillation units, naphtha hydrodesulfurizers, diesel and turbosine, gas oil hydrotreating units, among others.

In addition, detailed engineering for the design of the construction of the new facilities, which is carried out based on national and international standards, to carry out the construction program, procurement of equipment and materials necessary for the operation of the plants, as well as the verification of the construction of the facilities, using three-dimensional (3D) models in different software platforms.

This Institute identifies both the technological needs in production and processing facilities, as well as the infrastructure needed to implement, rehabilitate or optimize the existing one, and also develops technical analysis to select the most appropriate technology that meets this requirement.

Among the most important contributions of the IMP are: keeping the search and evaluation process transparent with the technologists so that the national oil industry complies with the regulations; facilitate the application of a technology selection and evaluation procedure to improve decision making; increase the security and reliability of the facilities.

Likewise, the IMP has personnel with extensive knowledge of oil facilities and environmental regulations; He is also certified as an expert in different entities, both national and international; carries out Social Impact Assessment Studies, to identify the positive and negative impacts that may alter the social and economic dynamics of the localities in the area of influence of the energy projects.

His experience has consolidated the IMP as a trainer of the operators, with the objective of promoting and strategically strengthening the skills and abilities of training human capital, to perform in an ethical and responsible manner technical activities in the operation of refineries.

Finally, the IMP has positioned itself as an ally for Petrleos Mexicanos during the operation of the refining plants, through expert consultancy experts to comply with all processes in an appropriate manner.
