HudBay on lookout for acquisitions, and a new CEO3:39PM ET on Wednesday May 05, 2010 via Thomson Reuters

* Looking for copper and zinc assets in Americas

TORONTO, May 5 (Reuters) - HudBay Minerals <HBM.TO> is looking for acquisitions, even as it struggles to find a new chief executive to replace Peter Jones, who stepped down late last year, the company's acting CEO said on Wednesday.

Speaking on a conference call, Warren Holmes said the search for a new CEO has taken longer than expected, but he reiterated the company's desire to use its C$900 million ($874 million) cash hoard for expansion.

"We continue to look at opportunities for acquisitions. We're focused very much on copper zinc opportunities in North America in particular, but also South America, and when we have progress to report on that area, we shall do so," he said.

HLO's VMS has been taken out  by HBM  piece by piece........ Lost / Cold and now.... Jungle.....  Next???

Hi Folks. Have email back from IR last week... Hello Linda, .................. "We will see further drill results in the coming ******. I don't have a definitive date just yet. Halo still has more than $1 million in the bank. Further financings are not anticipated in the short term. You are correct, raising money at the .04 is not ideal. We are ...more

If I were Hudbay, I would bid a 'generous' 15-20 cent/share and try to steal it. Back to reality, the seller has sold a lot of shares the last couple of weeks. The persistent volumes on the ask point to ONE big seller imho. So I believe only Mineralfields Group has that much shares and is unloading. I have no clue why, but that is my perception. greetingsTritoon

if mineralfields were the one dumping huge blocks, wouldn't it show up as insider trades?
