Random thoughts

Random thoughtsFirst of all, I googled any more news on HRG and found this

Buryatzoloto acquired 100% in Irokindinskaya Grid Company (Ulan Ude), as is was informed.

Earlier, Buryatzoloto had none stakes in thsi Company.
Buryatzoloto has two mines under development (Irokinda and Kholbinsky) which provided 4534 kg of gold in the 2008-output.

84.9% are held by High River Gold Ltd. (HRG) which is working under the Severstal control (50.1%).

What strikes me as odd, is that this transaction totals $6235 Canadian.  Secondly, I remember almost the same transaction taking place in September - I'm too lazy to look it up.

For the first time, we have no had any negative news to pull down the share price - this to me is significant.

We are now told that Severstal may buy out Troika.

Why would this be released?  There really is no strategic advantage for Severstal to buy out Troika it they are partners.  the only reason, I can think of that makes sense, is that if Severstal buys Troika's shares, then they can profit more when they well all of HRG to another company.

In other words, Severstal, may have a deal on the table and they want to make the most profit possible.  they really can't mess around with the minority share holders because they have been threatened with lawsuits and they have been given an ultimatum that we expect well north of $2/share, which probably means our greed wants to see $3.

However, being a partner with Severstal only takes you so far.  If Severstal steps in now, they might be able to buy Troika out at an previously agreed upon level (placement value or current share price +50% (whichever is greater)).  I'm just making up that deal, but it seems reasonable.  Therefore, Troika walks away with a 200% profit.  Then Severstal turns around and brings in the Chinese offer at $3, and doing so earns a 200% profit on these brand new shares they have purchased.

Can anyone else think of another reason why they would do this deal now?
